Could not be more accurate!

COUNTRY 'N' MODERN
It sounds unlikely, but rural properties are amazingly adaptable to a modern style - as your home proves. The country-meets-modern look relies on natural materials and, very often, the immediate landscape for inspiration. The result perfectly combines the simplicity of colour and form without overlooking basic comfort and, indeed, the practicalities of raising a family.

Living Room
You have a comfortably contemporary living room. The danger with the 'modern look' is that it too easily falls into the realm of the bland and insipid; 'easy' gets confused with 'careless' and the result is just downright dull! Perhaps of all the rooms in our homes, the living room can be the one that most expresses your sense of style and your interests. Think, too, about how and when you will most use the room. For example, do you want it light and airy or warm and cosy? Try introducing one or two unexpected elements when choosing your accessories: one of the positives of the modern look is that it is very accommodating. Neutral wall colours provide a calm, easy background, while neutral textiles and soft furnishings never lose their style. Make comfort the priority in your living room: it's where you naturally go to watch TV, relax and de-stress.

Bedroom
Yours is a 'modern master' bedroom. Sleep is fundamentally important to our well being. Clean, fresh air can truly aid sleep, but so, too, does a well-made bed and the best mattress you can afford. Touch is an important issue in the bedroom, from crisp, linen sheets to wool or even sheepskin underfoot. You make quite a statement with clean, strong lines in your bedroom, using earthy, rustic colours and textures to create a sense of harmony with the natural world.

Dining Room
You're a fuss-free entertainer, using good, honest ingredients. At home, natural, earthy colours and textures make dining a sensual occasion that connects the food on the plate back to nature. Eating is not just a basic need but a feast for the senses, and your sensitivity to light, colour, material and texture adds warmth to any environment. With a keen eye for the vernacular, you'll know that furniture and accessories need not have a designer label to give them real value. Indeed, English slipware, for example, has an intimate connection both with the past and with the simple pleasures of good, honest, no-nonsense food. When it comes to entertaining, convenience is paramount.

Home Office
Only you could pull off the "utilitarian chic" look! You've probably got other things on your mind right now, but creating a dedicated space where you can work from home - and keep in touch by email - really does make sense. By using materials such as slate and stone and keeping to a similar palette of colour, you will be able to easily integrate your office space with the rest of your home.

Conclusion
Your home combines the best of old and new, rural and metropolitan, to prove you really can have it all!

Death to the wasps

Seriously, tomorrow is Friday again! That is excellent news. I love Fridays. I love tomorrow-Friday even more because the day after tomorrow we get to go to College Station for the 1st football game of the year & some good times with good friends! I'm so incredibly excited to get out of town with my favorite.

Taylor & I have a problem...a big problem. A wasp problem. THEY WON'T GO AWAY!!!! All summer long we've been held hostage in our house due to those flying monsters. We have a huge beautiful back yard that we didn't even get to spend much time in because of the beasts. Oh and then there was last night...
So we get home from work & our neighbors across the street are out working in their yard. We get out of the car, walk over, and talk to them for about...30 minutes (what can I say? we're all talkers!). Well then the neighbors next door got home. So all of us talked for another... 30 minutes. By this time it was around 7, and my dear husband needed to work on his own lawn. Neighbor from across the street inspiried me to work on our flowerbeds again (you know since the freaking grass likes to grow in them, and I have to pull it out every week). I go change. I come back out, and I'm doing what I do in the flower bed. Then I move over to the bed that is around the tree... I'm pulling out the grass & spraying the weed killer when a HUGE angry wasp comes flying right at my face! I stand up and (not so smart) start power walking away from the scary thing. Oh, then it lands on my head. I thought it was for sure going to sting me! But no, it got bored with me and flew in a straight line for Taylor. Maybe he smelled better? The Mr. managed to get away unstung, but YIKES that was too close for comfort. Oh, we found out why he came at me so angry. There happens to be a GIGANTIC nest in the tree. Lovely. Little do they know that tonight...they die.

Nothing important

My husband has decided he "needs" to grow a beard. I just roll my eyes. His latest thought about this beard? "It MAY be a good luck charm for the Aggies this season". OK, honey, OK.

As quick as Friday came last week Monday came even quicker! This weekend was full of adventures. A trip to the airport started it off bright & early Saturday morning. I love the airport. Even though we were saying "see ya later" (not goodbye. I hate goodbye) to our family, it was still exciting. It was exciting for them. They were off to Canada to get the cousin started at his university. Maybe a bit of a sad time for his parents, but such an exciting time for him!

Sunday was filled with a pool party at our CFO's house. We only have about 8 people in our office so we're quite close. It was a fun time. Definitely nice to relax out by the pool all day long. It was also really nice to be social & such. Taylor seems to think I can be quite anti-social. (not really, he just gives me a hard time because I H.A.T.E. being on the elevator with people I don't know)

My sisters went back to school today. 1 started 10th grade & the other started college. They make me feel old! I'll be really interested to see how things go for both of them. I'm really excited for them!

Now we just have to get to this upcoming weekend! 3 days of no work AND the start of football season! I'm really looking forward to our drive down to College Station on Saturday morning. I'm sure these next few months will be filled with posts about our road trips, football games, and fun time adventures!

Friday & dogs

I cannot believe it's already Friday again! I really cannot believe it's already been a month since Taylor's family got here, and now they're leaving in the morning. Time passes by way too quickly. We had tons of fun while they were here, and I'm excited that his cousin will be going to school in Cananda & can visit more often! I should be getting some pics from our night at dinner at Maggiano's so of course I'll be posting them!

As many of you know, we have 3 crazy dogs. 1 of them, Presley, likes to go on adventures & go explore the neighborhood. Well, I think (fingers crossed) that she's getting out of that phase. Lately, when we let them out in the morning she drinks her water, does her business, and sits at the door waiting for us to let her in. Yesterday after her little routine, she came in and of course immediately jumped on our bed & found her a comfy spot. Taylor started trying to play with her, and well, I guess she was tired because she ran into our closet & this is where we found her...

I'm pretty sure that face says, "WHAT do you want?! I'm trying to sleep here."

I love our dogs! Our house would be so quiet and calm without them! Ha. I really just hope once we have a real baby they'll adjust well. I think Presley will just want to cuddle with it. Maverick will just be quite curious, and Lily will be the one who will be jealous. I guess we shall see when the time comes!

Oh, hair...

Who was I kidding? I gave in & cut my hair! It's now similar to this again (and it feels great!!)...

This & That

Well, I haven't updated since my last rant. Maybe I should go for something a little more up beat, huh? Let's see...

My hair is driving me up a wall. ;) It's a couple inches past my shoulers, and it's hit another awkward stage. I promised Taylor that I would let it grow out just to see how it looks and if I like it then I'll keep it. I am having some second thoughts about that one though! I look at old pics when my hair was a couple inches above my shoulders, and I loved it that way. I have to stay strong though!! It must keep growing. Who knows, once it gets about 3 inches longer I may really like it. Plus, I'd miss my ponytails.

Taylor's family is only here for 2 more weeks...well not even that now! I can't believe how fast time has gone by. It seems like they just got here. I wish we could spend more time with them... it's just so hard with the busy schedule of work & such. It's so important to make the most out of the time you have with family!

I just looked outside the window in my office. It looks like storms are headin' in! I really hope so anyway! To me there is nothing more relaxing at work then stormy weather. It seems like it puts everyone in a more carefree mood. Bring on the rain!

We bought our Aggie season tickets!! WHOOP!!! (that was for you TaylorA!) I'm WAY excited. I can't wait to be in College Station for all 7 games. We won't miss one! It's going to be a blast... not only the games, but tailgating with our friends, Northgate, already have plans for lunch with an old friend, and the road trips down there. We're going to have so much fun this fall! I will definitely keep the updates current with all the happenings.

Serious case of the Mondays

Why can't it still be the weekend?! Friday night was an absolute blast! Hard Night's Day put on a great show. After the concert we went to eat at a place on Main St. called The Angry Dog. It was DELISH! Probably the best burger I've ever had. No joke.

I was super excited on Saturday... we finally bought something to go on the wall above our mantle! It looked so naked. Now the room is finally complete! I love decorating. We bought this picture & we got one for our gameroom too. The game room is "lounge-y" themed with a bit of a casino feel. The picture we got is perfect. It's basically of a set of cards and it reads Texas Hold 'Em on the bottom. I'll have to post a pic of that room once we get it all finished!

(the pic was taken with my cell phone before we hung it, and the proportions are off. it's about 30x30)

I'm so excited about the upcoming months! Taylor & I have a lot to look forward to.
